About Us
Our Story
Founded in 2019 by the now Head of Cinema at Dundee’s DCA, David Nixon, our annual festival is a true celebration of cinema that unites communities and showcases the best of both contemporary and classic films.
Join us as we continue to weave the cinematic tapestry of the Tyne Valley, bringing people together, fostering a love for film, and creating memories.
At the Tyne Valley Film Festival, community and collaboration is at the core of our mission. We believe in the power of film to connect, inspire, and create lasting memories. We are thrilled to have partnered with numerous community organisations over the years, from village hall film clubs to esteemed cultural institutions.
Welcome to Tyne Valley Film Festival
Tyne Valley Film Festival is led by the Forum Cinema Hexham
Having first opened its doors in 1937, the Forum Cinema is now Northumberland's only remaining full-time independent cinema. Located in the heart of Hexham, The Forum strives to create community through cinema with screenings of blockbuster hits, independent gems, live theatre and much more.
